[TechAssist] Re: Zenith SS8769H2, 9-840-1, 9-822-1 no power, FIXED

The Sencore list is very handy. I have compared it to the list on the
Dick Smith ESR meter and have found that if you multiply the results
from that list by 10 times you get approximately the Sencore list
values. As a rule of thumb, if a cap shows an ESR of 5 times greater
than the Dick Smith list, then the cap should be replaced.

Leonard:
If I read your post correctly you said that you have a chart of esr
readings for various caps. This place would never allow me the money to
by
Sencore products but it would help me quite a bit if I could get a copy
of
this chart. Is this chart something that can be purchased through
Sencore
or do they only supply it to their customers?

Thanks,
Rich

Thanks Bob, you were right on. I found one cap C3407 100uF 25V in the
primary of the power supply that had slightly high ESR (6 ohm) and
marginal
DA (11%). I resoldered a number of connections, though none really
looked
bad and now it works.

I would not have thought that the ESR reading was all that bad but
checking
the Sencore chart it is too high for this value cap.
