Kevin, is your audio output the one with the "wings" as a heat sink on top, part of the chip? Part# starts with an "A"? I may have one. Check. Phil Philip Bader Jan Phyl TV Inc. I smacked it good everywhere. When I first got the set I whacked the side really hard and the volume came back. But now my problem is the set is working most of the time. The other modules are 175-2034, 9-246-01, 9-186-05. I can't find any other numbers after the 9-181. The audio IC is on the 9-181 module. I would like to repair this set because it has a very nice picture for an older TV. Do you have other module numbers? That 9-181 had so many variations>>>>01 thru 18 if I remember.. Some of those sets did not even use the audio on the 9-181.. Before you spin your wheels sub another speaker.. Had an old RCA that the sound went off but turning sound way up it returned... Voice coil would catch on the magnet at regular volume but turning up sound it released. Bob. Sorry I don't have the model number for this one. The volume will disappear after several minutes or hours and no amount of tapping or banging will bring back the sound. If I raise the volume it will finally come back on again. I inspected the sound circuit for cold solders and found none. Any other ideas on this oldie but goodie?
