Stefaan,
With crt socket removed, Use a jumper wire from the ground
strap around the CRT.. see if the socket pins arc with set on.. If they do
probably a stress crack/or set dropped.. tube has an air leak.. and the CRT
is bad.. Just had a samsung combo 19" same problem.. with no signs of being
dropped..

Subject: [TechAssist] Thomson ICC7 purple flash in CRT

> Hi.
> I've only been repairing TV's professionally for a couple of months, this
is the first one with CRT problems so i thought i'd ask:
> When I switch on this set (Thomson, or Ferguson, as you like it) with ICC7
chassis i see a purple flash in the neck of the CRT and the set goes to
protection. The customer said that before it went dead the colors were
"wrong". Is a broken CRT the only possibility in this case or might
something else cause the blue flash?
