I have done the bypass a few times with success. you can see it at

The SBX 1593-01 (Sony # 8-741-159-30) BYPASS.
To bypass the module: Use two 4.7@50 capacitors and connect the (-) side of
one cap to pin 5 on the MTS module and the (+) side to pin 4 on the DBX
module.
Take the second cap and connect the (-) side to pin 6 on the MTS and the (+)
side to pin 5 on the DBX module. This should give you clean sound but you
may not have the fullness that the board would have given you."
