[TechAssist] Re: Sony TV KV32TS46 power supply transistors

Sony is supplying these to the distributors in bulk and they have to repack
them. I have done extensive testing on these transistors and find no value
in using the ridiculously priced Sony supplied parts over generics from a
reputable supplier. The rank is important, but there is also a large
variance in gain even within a given rank, even from Sony. I buy them in
batches, match them by rank and junction bias, verify the duty cycle, and
only use the P rank. The values of the other parts in the supply can
affect the duty cyle as well. The key to these circuits is being thorough
in testing.

FYI, any of you who have been trying to communicate with me recently should
not the new email address. The old one has been giving me problems and I
have likely missed messages over the past few weeks.
