I believe there are issues revolving around copyright and facilitation
which you might want to consider. If you suspect there is anything which
is not proper about the modification and you're proven correct, then if
he gets caught duping games and squeals you might be in just as deep
doodoo as he would be. There are a lot of tech shops being seized and
charged these days because they're selling/installing mods to machines
which allow unauthorized copying of games even to their hard drives and
making them playable.

As far as burning of games, well I don't know details of PS2 disk
formatting but emulation software is relatively easy to get. It's
conceivable someone could plug the drive into their PC and then thru the
OS emulator burn copies of the software to their CDR or DVDR so again
use your discretion.

I know that there are "hot chips" out there which allow this for Xbox,
and those places caught selling/installing them are being charged to the
limit of the law. A friend of mine called several places to get this
chip just to find their phones were disconnected and websites gone.

I don't know if I would risk anything to do this. Besides, the manuals
tend to be really thorough and complete in their instructions just so
the consumer can do it themselves. They know that the likelihood of
finding a tech who would risk their businesses to do this commercially
is extremely low.

I was contacted on the phone by a person who said he has a Playstation 2
Game console and has a "mod kit" and fifteen page directions manual he
downloaded off the web.Sounds involved. Seems to include a small SMD IC
and other things to solder on the main board.Maybe replace a chip, add
jumpers, bypass, etc.End result is to back up games, play other games
normally not possible, and I think to burn games(?).Basically enhance the
thing. Not sure, anyone hear of this? he has been calling everywhere
around here to no avail.
Any "gamers" out there?
