I'm no engineer. I usually stay with the orig. value, until it is 
found to be a goof. I usually just replace it with a good 105 degree 
cap of the same value since it's affecting the drive time constant. 
Many a HOT failed due to line surge.I think you compounded the issue 
with a different transistor.After repair, heat test it as you go, 
every 5 minutes or so.Do the finger test.
