COUNTERFEIT SEMICONDUCTORS

Sadly, we're hearing more and more "horror stories" from our customers
about counterfeit transistors and ICs. The problem seems to be getting
worse, especially regarding Japanese devices being distributed in the
USA. Since most of these "bootlegs" are grossly inferior to the
original devices, they waste your time and money. They also muddy the
already confusing issue of "original" versus "generic" transistors and ICs.
Since the original manufacturers seem to have no interest in addressing
this problem, it's up to us in the service and distribution industries
to protect ourselves, our businesses, and our customers. To this end,
we will be adding some informative pages to our Web site soon. We'll be
featuring photos of genuine and knockoff devices and as much information
as possible on the visible differences between them. (We will NOT be
using these pages as an opportunity to bash the competition.)
We invite everyone in the service and distribution sectors, as well as
interested individuals, to contact us with any information you're
willing to share, including photos. You can send us any information on
this topic by replying to this email message. If you prefer to remain
anonymous, visit our Web site and use our "Contact Us" form (enter the
