Jan, The isolation of the filaments will not prevent the damage caused by a CRT when it arcs. As you know just because two transistors cross to the same NTE does not mean that the two devices are equal. The original could have a higher rating and be within the NTE's specifications. Try cleaning the CRT to remove any loose flakes. The spark gap might be bad.
