Roger,
Don't know if this applies to your model, but good chance it does. These
tips were from J. Silverman sent 3/1/2002 and have been helpful to me.
1993 model Hitachi-made VHS
No EVF picture - C2003, C2008, both 2.2/16
Jagged wavy lines in camera picture--C101, 142, 143, 144, 176, all 10@16.
Capstan motor runs full speed--Q507 (MPL1), C506 (47/16), C508, 509
(120@16).
