The Brown (5th color) is the tolerance, in this case plus or minus
one per cent. Got this from a copy of a chart that someone left
here, unfortunately the person who left it didn't leave any
indications of the source publication. A sixth band indicates
Tempature Coefficient.
5th band
Silver 10%
Gold 5%
Brown 1%
Red 2%
Green .5%
Blue .25%
Purple .1%
6th band
Red 50ppm
Brown 100ppm
Orange 15ppm
Yellow 25ppm
