Jorge,
I ran into that exact problem a few months ago, but must rely on memory
only, because my s/m is loaned out. On the convergence power supply,
near the transformer, there are two large diodes to rectify the plus25
and minus 25 lines. Measure that voltage--one of both is breaking down
under load. Don't remember, either a 164589 or 164590 RCA part number.
Some use a ECG/NTE580 as a sub. Don't like to do that, but you could try
it as a test.
If that does it for you, be a pal and give the circuit symbol for that
for the rest of the guy's records.
