I think of it as bass ackwards.
I would think the one that looks like a LENS would be the LENticular, but it
is
actually the fresnel.
The front, rough one is the lenticular.

I think the Lenticular screen (lines, is how I remember that), has the
groves in it, and is the outer screen. The Fresnel screen is the back
screen, I think. I am not sure if this question was asked, but I see some
conflicting replies on it.
