I do not see that resistor on the schematic or parts list but there are 
several parts listed as Rxxx but the value says "jumper".  What IC and 
what pin number is it attatched to?  I have the same model TV here that 
I can look at.  As far as the VCR problem, I would suggest replacing the 
mode switch, cleaning the switch does not give good results.  Part 
nimber is SSR0107HD001 or (Mag) 4835-276-17343. The LED may also need 
replacement.  Does the power come on when you push the button the first 
time?  Is the belt slipping?   John.
