Phil,
From Tech Repair CD:
Panasonic\PVM2045\Cassette loading problems-seems to slip out-of-time\\\\Small
tab broken off chassis right side\Use kit # VVDS0017
to repair\\\\\\\\

Also, if this unit has a select slide switch on the carriage, clean that.

This TVCR has little actual VCR mechanical use in the retired lady's
home. The TV did get use. She inserted a tape, it went in and it
immediately ejected it at once. Did this several times, until it just
kept it. They "managed to get the tape out". The basket was in a bit,
and reset it's home position when I powered it. TV still works OK.
Does this sound like the notorous dirty mode switch?
In these intermittant conditions it's hard to zero in on the cause.
