Not sure if this will help...from Tech Repair CD:
Magnavox,MDV650R/17,CDR,DVD recorder will not read DVD+R. It will display
reading for about 5 seconds
then eject. It will read commercial movies and DVD+RW fine,,,Replace the main
mechanism. p/n

I have a Magnavox MDV650R/15 DVD recorder made in 2003. It records in
DVD-RW but not in +R. It says it is recording but the playback is either
scrambled or the disk is not recognized. Pre recorded DVDs always play back
OK. Any suggestions before I order the DVD mechanism? John.
