Oh wait! I just had one of those with those same symptoms.....Lamp lit then
it shuts off all by itself, and if you listen carefully it sounds like the
lamp driver board shuts off , then restarts. Voltage readings made it look
like it was turning on/off too.
To make a long story short it still on/offed after replacing the lamp driver
board....and REPLACING THE LAMP FIXED IT!
I guess when the lamp goes bad, it somehow shuts down the lamp driver board
or makes it sound like it does.
Weird.
