I would pull the chassis and check all caps for high ESR. I have seen
the first 2 problems caused by caps.

Subject: [TechAssist] Hitachi CT-2653, need tips or schematic, three
problems.........

Old Hitachi console Model CT-2653 customer approved est of 250.00.
3 Problems:
1. Vertical deflection problem, top of pix is down 3 or 4 inches and
stretched out on bottom.
2. A black bar appears when channel is changed. the bar is about 4 or 5
inches wide comes down from top almost to bottom of picture and is
centered on the right side.
3. Channel memory add/erase does not work.
Set is in home and customer would like it repaired on site if possible.
If no tips then maybe a schematic so I can do it the hard way?

Thanks,
