BINGO! John, I installed a 5.6 volt zener and the set works fine, regulates
at about 126 volts. With the lightning storms we have had I was worried this
would have extensive damage but it was just the zener, thanks.

It appears tje TVS2540C is similar to the TVS2740 which is in Sams 4428.
It has a D528 (5.6v zener) in the feedback circuit, that could explain
why the TV shuts down now. TVS2740 uses a SMPS with IC STR-F6624.
Please let me know if this works out so I can add it to my notes. John.
