Well, they generally keep looking after you but there are times I've
heard where there was doctor shortages or hospital bed shortages and
they more or less ingored some of the older patients who were not gonna
get better. I just went to a funeral today for a friend that was 79
years old. He had a weak heart and was getting kidney dialysis a few
times per week. He was being treated well in the hospital right up to
the day he passed away (as far as I know, that is). Now, as for if they
could have technically done anything more to help him or not, I don't
know. If he would have been a famous person, it might be surprising just
what they would have attempted to do to help him. There are horror
stories floating around about other patients experiences, so not
everyone is getting the proper care.

One of the main things about our health care is the length of time on
waiting lists to get attended to. To get therapy for instance can take 6
months or longer. Operations unless they are life threatning can take a
few months of waiting. My fiance needed an appointment with a specialist
and it took 4 months of waiting, then the appointment lasted 10 minutes
and now she has to wait 2 more months for a 20 minute appointment.
Still, we are thankful to get looked after at all.
