Well, I received my first CTC187 with a cooling fan today. The customer said that the set had never been worked on. The tuner had not ever been soldered, go figure. We have done about 4 RCA CTC187 sets with hot H.out heat sinks-mod with 60mm small computer size 12V cooling fan--they are still working-no call backs. I do the fan trick now everytime I get an RCA CTC187 or any RCA that has heat sink getting hotter than normal. Have not tried this trick with Sonys with hot power chip, it should work, just find a 12V source that can handle extra load-and one that comes on with power on sw. Just tell customer it is the latest modification. Fans can be found cheap on E-bay. P.S. All parts used in repair of the RCAs are top grade, no knock-offs. -- Hugh Thornley Main TV 636 Main St. Longmont, Colorado 80501 303-776-6955 maintv2002@xxxxxxxxxxxx **************************************************************************** * The Tech Address Book: http://www.tech-assist.org/secure/tip/contact.html Add a Repair Tip Here, or Change/Remove your Email Address: http://www.tech-assist.org/secure/tip/main.html Lost Password: http://www.tech-assist.org and select "Lost your Login Info?".
