Not necessarily Ron,
the gemstar may have locked up at some time
generally when I get a error of 23 or 24 customers complaint is intermittent
dead
I can't always recreate in shop, may play for days
If in warranty I just replace Gemstar
You might look at comb filter for video problem have seen some go bad with
no video
