Not to mention, water + expensive electronics = expensive damage and inoperable robot. These are great ideas! I'm glad that everyone got creative! I think a Frisbee shooter would be awesome because we could probably get them to fly way farther than any balls, the only problem is potential damage from fast flying Frisbees (maybe we could have an indoor and outdoor switch that could ramp it up). Nerf ball shooter is also a cool idea. Lots of great ideas! We'll have to lower the selection down and bring it to a vote. Some of these ideas could work with multiple types of robots (voice control, i-phone app) and could be added regardless of the design after we get it working through the normal control system. I would recommend against promotional ideas that make a "mess". Any litter left by an idea like these (aka paintballs, blow up water balloons, ext.) the team is responsible for cleaning up... Just keep that in mind.. Notes from last night's meeting. 1. Adam is to send out confirmation e-mail about Saturday's meeting at Superior Jointing listing those that have confirmed they are going. Maybe meet a few minutes ahead of time. 2. We are not sure what supplies we need to buy yet. Maybe once we see the frame and wheels assembled we can decide what kind of supplies we need. 3. Ideas for demonstration modules for the demo bot. We had a lot of fun coming up with these ideas and the team should speak up if new ideas arise. 1. T-shirt cannon: could be pneumatic or sling-shot style 2. i-phone or i-pad controlled bot: maybe design our own app 3. Ball launcher: pitching machine style, could be a bot that kids could try and bat against with nerf balls 4. Voice command bot 5. Grabber arm 6. Articulated arm 7. Paint ball cannon 8. Cleaner/Organizer bot 9. Water balloon launcher: maybe sling-shot design 10. Catapult 11. Frisbee shooter: could use small frisbee's with advertisements on them 12. Techno bot: Laser lights, fog, music 13. Guitar hero bot From: team2039-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:team2039-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Adam Czerwonka Sent: Tuesday, July 13, 2010 11:48 AM To: 'team2039@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [team2039] Meeting. I am going home sick today, so I will not be able to make the meeting. Here are the things that we need to accomplish: 1. Create a bill of materials for the robot. a. What more do we need? We have only a small amount of the electronics. What types of cables and motor controllers do we need? Should we get another gaming adapter? I would like a list of parts that we need to purchase in order to finish he prototype bot. b. Someone can be selected to search for the most cost effective "slip ring" connectors that we can find. See the link for what this is. http://www.mercotac.com/html/630.html 2. Make sure that everyone knows where and when they are meeting for the frame welding date! As I said, you will probably also get to see their awesome robotic laser cutting and welding machine. 3. A sub team can form to design graphics for the prototype bot. I would like us to find an appealing way to attach something like corregated plastic panels to the robot. We can get them printed to have graphics on them so we can display the team name, number, and sponsors on it in a professional looking way. This robot will become our demonstration bot, so we want it to look very professional (we'll also have to take our time wiring the bot)! 4. If there is any time left, we can open up the conversation about what types of demonstration modules can get attached to the robot. This would ideally be a modular piece that is detachable with a few pins and a plug so that the robot can easily be transported to a demonstration in a car. We don't need to make a decision, but we can have people throw out ideas and maybe draw them on the board. c. Example: Big robot arm , tennis ball shooter, etc... Call if you guys have any questions.
