Scott we have a similar arrangement on the High Street but depends on the amount of traffic you are dealing with. We have only delivery vehicles (though mainly out of hours) and a mini bus service only so traffic levels are very low. Area is all open but stop line/centre line define vehicles stop location 10m back from crossing point. Pedestrian flows are high/constant at crossing so vehicles have to crawl forward and rev engine/sound horn to clear the way. Crossing is 10m wide and this traffic stage follows the crossing stage to assist this. Need generous min green or following intergreen to clear. Main road is single carriageway so junction fairly tight, main road stop lines set back to assist turning circles but this also helps in "precinct" vehicles are delayed. Hope this helps Tim Clark Senior Engineer Lincolnshire County Council City Hall Beaumont Fee Lincoln LN1 1DN Trafficsignals@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Customer Service Centre: (01522) 782070 If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service we have provided and wish to register a formal complaint, please telephone to request a copy of the County Council's leaflet How to Complain. At present it is one way into the pedestrian precinct with pedestrians basically moving out of the way of traffic. The one way is about to be reversed with vehicles coming out into the junction. They will now require a stop line and signal heads etc. Any suggestions for the peds crossing over this leg when this approach gets a green ??? Does anyone have a similar layout ???
