Without actually producing figures, in Sefton, we have a number of
puffins and we are not incredibly happy with their reliability. The
problem we have (probably typical) is with the detection, especially
kerbside. We are about to trial some AGM video imaging units to replace
the infra-red.
The I/R's seem to be affected by:-
sudden bright and dark spells - clouds passing over the sun, giving
false demands or cancelling existing,
rain - causing people to use umbrellas thereby hiding their heat from
the detector, and
just plain tempramentallity!
If the video units prove more reliable, they will probably become
Sefton's new standard.
