Meet time/place is the Derrel’s mini storage that can be seen on the west side of 99 and Dakota avenue. Best to take the Ashlan offramp, go south on Parkway drive until you are there on your right. It’s before you get to Dakota. For out of towners, the turnoff is about half way through Fresno off 99, so it’s easy to see. I try to get there around 8. It takes me a short time to hook up, but driving 55 is different for a lead foot like myself. I can bring it both ways this Saturday. We know we need to get more people on board with bringing the trailer to the launches. I am wondering how many members have thought about helping out, but had concerns. My old concerns: Will my (wife’s) SUV be enough to pull the trailer? Do I still get $20 for my trouble and gas? How much pressure is it to locate, hook up, return the trailer? Where can I mess up? OK, I still think about how I can mess up, but I’ve addressed my other worries. What I am proposing/offering is a “mentoring program” for anyone (need at least a hand full of haulers) interested in hauling the trailer to our launch in the future. They can meet me at the location, watch me navigate the storage, hook up, drive, park and return the trailer, then get in their car and drive home at the end of the day. Seriously, if I can do it anyone can with a little direction and practice. Also, remember that hauling the trailer in no way obligates you to unload or load the trailer! That is not the hauler’s job. The hauler is not even required to supervise anyone else. They are only obligated to deliver and return the trailer. So for anyone WONDERING if they might be in a position to haul the trailer but has some concerns, feel free to contact me and get a lesson by riding along with me this Saturday!
