Hi all, in the interest of keeping everybody informed, we thought we could
add our perspective on early arrival at a rocket launch. We like to support
the club, and one of the only ways we can do that is to help with the setup
of the range. That means we need to be there early. If we have to leave a
day early to do this, so be it.
One of the issues for folks who are traveling a distance with a travel
trailer or Motorhome is setup. We need to travel on Tuesday so we can be
there ready to fly when LDRS starts Wednesday at 9 am. It is going to be a
10 hour drive for us.
Since we are now aware that it would be best for the club to not have people
in the way we have found free RV parking at Harris Ranch for Tuesday
afternoon/night.
Anybody who wants to join us with their rig for the evening is welcome.
We’ll have margaritas to share!
Our big question is when on Wednesday morning can with show up with our
trailer and help set up the range?

And when it comes to parking (if that is the concern), I really don't see
what the big rush is - you will
have an excellent spot no matter what time you show up on Wednesday or even
Thursday.
Friday and Saturday however, that will be tough... so come Wednesday like it
says on the site!

Before people start freaking out about launch site and who gets a spot
where, here's the deal,
for all the vendors, and people who are working on the site - relax - you
already have spots to stay
and we will set them up for you. Especially those who have already sent me,
Steve or Mike email
on this. The reason we can't "open early" is because we have to setup the
road and the range
and that cannot be done if people park while we're in the middle of setup.
Like I said, the tractor
usually takes care of this ...:-)
Other reason is that we have a large range to setup, twice what we usually
do at DA or OS. If you
look at the site map online, you can see it spans 2 fields.
So we will focus on parking and site area first, if you look at the detail
Steve has provided on the map,
you'll see it will probably take a day of field grooming (Monday), and then
setup on Tuesday.
So like Aaron said, it probably won't even be ready until Tuesday night.
