Wait a second guys ...

I already tested it with a level meter 2 years ago. There was a little
sticker on the knob.
I suspect it fell off, like the pads 21, 22, and 14 stickers on mission
control (that knob
gets so hot in the sun it is likely to happen.

I will make a scratch on it and bring the sound meter. You need 78 dB to
get to 500' - at least
that is what it was set for.

But, bigger picture - we need to do updates anyhow so this will not be an
issue anymore.
I plan to do is get an updated PA system with 1W FM Broadcast and we will
have a gain limit
on that (the newer amps you can simply dial-in the gain) and you can just
tune to 92.4FM to
get the LCO/RSO (and our awesome rock music).

TCC already has a plan in place to address this issue, we are going to do
some testing for our standard setup at the next launch to find a preset
volume level for both the PA as well as the music.  Rest assured we will
rectify this issue as to minimize any further issues.  We did not know at
the time the sound level was an issue at the HP pads, I wish somebody would
have been more clear this was the issue.  It would have been moved up on
the launch operations priority list.  It is hard to judge the volume levels
at all locations of the launch site from the LCO table.   Anybody who has
done the LCO duties when the flyer traffic gets heavy knows getting the
volume levels precisely correct for everybody at the launch site is not an
easy task, especially if some has ‘adjusted’ the volume level for the
music, and the little kids are letting the LCO know their rocket is ready
to fly on the low power pads.  If in the future if anybody has an issue at
a TCC launch just let the people running the launch know and we will do
what we can to help.

Once the PA system is setup, if it is too loud for you, move back. Don't
ever turn or tamper

with the loudspeakers. They are called loudspeakers for a reason. If it is

Launch update

Got an updated launch report from Rod Lovley and James Franco yesterday and

this morning - we have some great flights and it sounds like yesterday and
last
night was Epic as usual :-)



One thing which we discussed - Important topic - Safety

It is imperative to understand that the LCO/RSO and flight directors have
strategic

and tactical command of the range and all launch operations throughout the
event.

Fliers and spectators should defer to them for any question on flying
rockets at the event,
when using the range or performing recovery (covered in fliers meeting).

All that being said - if I ever hear about another unsanctioned launch (of
any impulse)

without the controllers prior approval (or before the range is open) - the
flier will be asked
to leave. Range safety is always priority #1 - this is serious stuff -
don't ever walk out

and fly a rocket before the range has opened!


DA 2017/LDRS


I'm really looking forward to seeing all the videos and graphics - we'll
get that updated

on the website (I already have edits from Steve J and others). We have a
lot of planning
and decisions in the next 6 months along with some final announce on LDRS.

This should be really fun so stay tuned!!

I can even return it if need be. After the last launch I went to drop off
at Darrel’s on Easter but they were locked up tight, S.O.A.B.! I hauled it
