It wasn’t my issue, so not really my place to reply, but I think there were
some people having trouble hearing their altimeters out at the pads over the
awesome Rock-n-Roll. Obviously, you don’t want anyone tampering with the
loudspeakers, but I think that’s what was going on when the speakers were
turned away from the pads, not people having a problem with noise at their
camps. When the music got too loud at the camp, we asked it to be turned
down, and it was taken care of. But out at the pads, it seemed difficult to
get the attention of someone to turn down the sound, without running back to
the range head. Again, this was not an issue for me, but that’s what I think
I saw causing a problem for others.

Thanks Jim,
Good point. There should never be someone ever turning or tampering with the
PA system.
Once the PA system is setup, if it is too loud for you, move back. Don't
ever turn or tamper
with the loudspeakers. They are called loudspeakers for a reason. If it is
too loud for you,
move your base-camp away from the flight-line.

Also remeber that the sound system is part of the safety equipment. It is
there for announcements, launches and safety notices. The speaker pointed
at the launch pads is there so that the people setting up rockets can hear.
If there is a problem let the range head know. Do not try to fix it
yourself.

Hi Folks,
Launch update
Got an updated launch report from Rod Lovley and James Franco yesterday and
this morning - we have some great flights and it sounds like yesterday and
last
night was Epic as usual :-)
One thing which we discussed - Important topic - Safety
It is imperative to understand that the LCO/RSO and flight directors have
strategic
and tactical command of the range and all launch operations throughout the
event.
Fliers and spectators should defer to them for any question on flying
rockets at the event,
when using the range or performing recovery (covered in fliers meeting).
All that being said - if I ever hear about another unsanctioned launch (of
any impulse)
without the controllers prior approval (or before the range is open) - the
flier will be asked
to leave. Range safety is always priority #1 - this is serious stuff - don't
ever walk out
and fly a rocket before the range has opened!
DA 2017/LDRS
I'm really looking forward to seeing all the videos and graphics - we'll get
that updated
on the website (I already have edits from Steve J and others). We have a lot
of planning
and decisions in the next 6 months along with some final announce on LDRS.
This should be really fun so stay tuned!!
Thanks everyone and enjoy the rest of the launch!
Please send pictures/videos!!! :)
Best regards,
-James

Trailer hauling
If it is OK with Brian D. I can take it out to the launch since it is
still parked at our shop.
I can even return it if need be. After the last launch I went to drop off
at Darrel’s on Easter but they were locked up tight, S.O.A.B.! I hauled it
back to our shop after that and have been too busy to take it back to
Darrel’s, sorry.
Let me know Brian one way or the other. I can take it back to Darrel’s
tomorrow or next week.
