Saturday March 14th at 9am we will meet there and get the gear ready for
our April launch. We should be done by 3PM or so.
High Level Plan
- Overhaul all of the launch leads (new Gator clips, leads, etc)
- Test launch system, charge batteries
- Service any pads, clean all rails
- Go through tool-boxes, all items in trailer, organize
- Fix dollys (need to fill tires with foam)
- Check Audio, Check PA, make sure all is well
- Service Generator
- Remove a few Ring Mounts on the floor of the new trailer
- Add new racks in trailer for rods/rails and storage
- Cotter Pins for Away pad (Harbor freight)
- Eat a great lunch (Ben will send details but we'll be very WELL fed)
I'm hoping if we have 10-15 people we can get through most of the work
in the morning, eat lunch and then hang out, do show and tell, build
stuff, etc.
Things to Bring
- Alumibrite
- Foam for Tires
- White Vinegar
- Towels
- Gloves
- Pressure Washer
- Welder
Note: We may make a trip to Harbor Freight or local HW store to get things
if needed.
Things I Will Bring
- Soldering iron/flux/solder
- Connectors
- Wire
- Blowtorch
- Electrical connectors, wire & rework tools
Needed
- Someone to haul Trailer
- Volunteer to help with Soldering
- Volunteer for High pressure sprayer
- Volunteer for help with Welding
- As many hands as possible!
Checklist is below; really looking forward to seeing everyon at Bens
to get our launch gear in tip-top shape for DairyAire and OS!

Trailer
- Empty out, sweep, use compressed air to clean it
- Open up all tables and put boxes on it
- Open boxes and make sure all is sorted properly and matches label
- Clean out trash
- Take out launch system
- Hookup all relays for launch system - check batteries and relay
- Remove ring mounts on floor
- Weld some brackets and install them to hang rails/rods
Launch Gear
- New Cotter pins and straps for away pads (one of the legs fell on
someone)
- Fix Broken turnbuckle on one of the Quadpods
- The tires on the carts & dollys need to be patched, inflated, and foamed
- We probably need a new dolly for the batteries
- New Hangers for signs (we can adapt some of the gear we have with a
Welder)
- Pack Everything in the right box
- Put back in Trailer
Launch Rods/Rails
- All of the rods, pads and rails need to have a bath in :
#1 - White Vinegar - scrub as needed with a scrub-brush
#2 - Alumibrite - spray on, let it sit
#3 - pressure wash (2000 psi or more)
Follow up with grease/WD40 for all threads/rods/fittings, etc
This one takes the most time and where we can really use all the extra
help - anyone who has seen our hardware knows we like everything
squeaky clean.
Launch system
- We need to charge all the batteries.
- We will review the Igniter leads, replace all of the
- ones which are bad.
Harbor Freight
- A new Cart for batteries
- New Fire extinguisher (x2)
- Cotter Pin for Away pad
Other Items
- New Rails (Gary and James - TBD)
