I like to make things from wood. I'm almost finished with a round front
hall table. I've got about 40 hours into it. At my regular billing rate,

it. It's a labor of love. It's the building that's the joy. Honestly, I've
got about $70 in materials into this table. I might be able to sell it for
$200...but my wife wants it. To her, it's priceless. Just like any of my
rockets were to me (even when I had to dig them out of the dirt!)
So all that time you spent was for yourself, and unless you're in the
habit of billing yourself, it will never be worth what it cost to build it
in time and materials to anyone but you, and those around you that know.
But... I know what it takes, and I appreciate the effort. So will everyone
that sees it fly.

Yes, there is a ton of time invested in a project like this one.
I spent at least 12 hours designing and building up the CAM files for the
fins. There's 12 hours of machine time in those 4 fins. That doesn't
include the 3 that I scrapped or the time to build the fixtures. The nose
cone was also a major time investment I think I spent about 20 hours
designing it and 8-10 machining the parts. Then of course there's all of
the time I spent thinking about problems that came up.

so, it is all relative. The amount of time spent on those killer fins, I
wouldn't use anything other than the best out there and I would not want
detachment.
The best glue I have seen or used so far (besides Cotronics 4525) for
general Fiberglass and Aluminum (AL) AL-AL or AL-CF is the 3M DP420NS -
Deep Penetrating 420 No-Sag. This stuff is amazing. It is thixotropic when
you apply it! Yes, that's right, it comes out as Black toothpaste and can
be applied upside down. Claims 2hrs, but varies with temp and humidity
(seen 4 and always let dry overnight regardless). Scott Yow and I recently
did the Avalanches with it as well as some of my own bond testing for a
motor project with G-Man
The applicator gun is the best part - expensive, but is stronger than any
caulking gun (like you use for the West 610 Gel) and delivers and accurate
and perfect mix
to the wand. It is the ultimate delivery system.

Cotronics will not bond Al-Al. The peel strength is not there even if
you do the sanding while applicating to removed oxides.
