Verified TDC Verified bright spark Verified plug wire locations Swapped in known good distributor Symptoms No start, no backfire when timed near TDC Starts and runs at a FAST idle when the distributor is rotated so that it is advanced about 30° (eg. when it starts a timing light immediately shows it running at 30° BTDC). Dies at about 20° BTDC if timing is retarded after it is started. Is there any way this could be fuel related? I don't have another carb to swap on. Can a VW flat4 actually JUMP timing? How? No chain to stretch. I can't afford a rebuild I need ideas. ;-) G2
