Antique is once every 5 years and does not require an inspection sticker.  All
plates are the same in terms of expiration, 08 was the last expiration and 13
is the next year.  If you register them now you only have to pay for years.
The antique only costs the same as a regular plate, but you only have to do it
once every 5 years; i.e., it costs 1/5 what a regular plate costs over the 5
years.  All of my VWs have antique plates.  Most of the street rodders I know
in the east Texas area also run antique plates on their street rods.

Is it just a specialty type plate?  Is it still annual renewal?  Classic and
Antique certainly have different meanings.  So is a pinto available for classic
status?

But there's also classic.  24 year old but for daily driver.

Yes, it's technically called antique.  That's what I was referring to.  Has to
be  25 years or older.

Nope.  Only antique.  There's a guy in oregon who advertises on thesamba.  He
rebuilds wiper motors and assemblies

If you do the classic registration then you probably can avoid the inspection.

Whew, those things are rare and expensive.  My suggestion, attempt to rebuild
the one you have if at all possible, call The Thing Shop, and you might try
Oakhill Auto.  I know they parted a couple of Things recently.
