A few years back I was having trouble with intermittent problems starting my engine; sometimes it worked and sometimes not. My brother measured the voltage at the starter and sometimes I'd get 12 volts and sometimes not. Several friends suggested adding an extra solenoid before the starter and Dennis Holbrook kept telling me my headlight switch was probably going out. I didn't understand what the headlight switch had to do with the starter so I added an extra solenoid and it worked great. About three months later my headlight switch fried nearly catching on fire and that's when I realized what Dennis was talking about. I don't know about bay windows but in splittie's the main power wire to the ignition switch runs through the headlight switch. I guess this was another Gunter design!

I cured a similar problem with one of the starter
helper things , also a ford celinoyd did the trick.

I'm all for leaving Friday sometime but I just
jumped in it and the bus would not start....

Last week it did the same thing when I jumped in it to go the anti-meeting Friday night, I got under it and hit the solenoid as well as the starter and even turned the engine by hand with a socket and it finally turned over and started.

I measure the volts at the battery just now and they
are 10.5 volts. ...a little low but:

 Synptons:

Radio works, head lights work. Turn the key and
nothing (no sound) ...... I notice that when I turn
the radio on and then I then the head lights on,
the radio stops....turn lights over the radio comes
on but still no sounds (like the engine trying to
turn over)

Got any electrical gurus out there?

Bob, if you see this post call me please....

Looks like Emily and I will be able to get off work at noon on Friday, 22nd. Do the people from Houston want to cruize together???

If Katrina and I can get a friday off, we will
most likely head up thursday (9/21) after work.
The worst case would be a friday at noon
departure.
I think it is about a six hour drive.
Straight out 290 to 6 and up to Glen Rose.
    Who else is going?
