[tcb] Front door hard to open

On my bus when I pull on the inside release lever to get out - I have to
bump the door to get out of the bus - I pulled the panel off and bent the
connected rod using 2 pliers and its not really better. Wondering if I need
to bend the heck out of it to get it to release better? Or is it the lock
cylinder / mechanism I need to clean up or oil again.
Sugestions?
