Nate is who built my beam in the 63 DC. He knows his stuff. Yes there's
extremes, for example George at the "Butcher Shop" has a 6" bus beam, but it
mounts to the inside of the frame and you lose turning radius. I watched a
Kombi do a 10 point turn to get into a parking place at the Winter OCTO meet
with one of those beams.

That brings up a point, when you narrow, turning radius will always diminish.
With my 944 brakes and spindles, it pushed the mounting offset for my wheels
another 1 1/2 on a side. So, I still have a good turning radius and disk
brakes.
