Thanks Will.
You should check out the San Diego Wild Animal Park next time you are there.
And what is a Papler?

LOL, Actually I restrained myself and went to OCTO (bus content) and a couple of BBQs.

At OCTO, the parking lot at Veterans Stadium was full of early type 2s. Literally. I have a ton of pics I need to get uploaded.

The swap meet was so-so, not a lot of bargains but enough to perk my interests in a few things. I met quite a few guys from the Czech Republic and Poland. necessary dialogs must take place, phone numbers and e-mail addresses exchanged especially when you're doing vintage restos on WWII VWs. ;-) We talked about Schwimmers and Kubels for about an hour. These guys literally have dozens of WWII VWs in their posession and yes they know what they have. Damn Internet. I'm in the process of rebuilding a couple of Kubel engines for a friend so we want to make sure that we restore them as correctly as possible.

After awhile, a Papler showed up and shortly thereafter a funny looking chop-top rod appeared. That's kind of funny since they let the Papler into the Type 2 area (a strict no-no at an OCTO event). Not long after, lurking in the far end of the parking lot was this funny looking guy who drove up in the hot rod. Anyway, the guy is a nerd, horn rim glasses and wearing a long sleeve flannel shirt. He started to check out the busses that were in the back row, One of which belongs to a friend of mine. Anyway, my friend goes running over like a school girl to show him his 54 Barndoor Kombi. While this is happening, I'm over with my oldest son and we're talking to a few friends. One of them asks why Johnny, who never runs, was running over to his bus. I reply "Because Jesse James is looking it over." LOL

My son's eye's get about 2 inches wide "Jesse James? Dad, give me the camera and he takes off." A few of the folks are looking at me funny "No, way, it's not him." So I took two of the ladies that were giving me an incredulous look and walked them over to see.. Yup, that's him.

The Classic from my friends' accounts (those that were sober) was pretty much a dud. There were a couple of new cars, but nothing really to write home about. Sunday instead of the Classic we went to the San Diego Zoo and I saw my first Panda. There was more security around those three Pandas than out in the Harbor around the 4 LA class nuke subs and the two Nimitz class carriers.. LOL

I'll post the pics up of OCTO but I'm still recouperating from 5 days off work ;-)

I'm sure the coolest thing that I saw (pictures, that is) was the boxrod,
if you into that sort of thing...
Well Will???

Did anyone else on this list go?
We all know Will went to the classic in Ca.
Where is the trip report?
I am sure can come up with something.
I have never known him to be at a loss for words.
What was the coolest thing you saw, heard and smelled?
What kind of things did you see that made you say Hmmmm?
Inquiring minds want to know.
