Palmetto State Park is west about the same distance as Buescher is north, maybe
a little further. Haven't stayed there yet but heard it is nice.

If staying at Buescher, you can stop at Monument Hill in LaGrange for a nice
side trip.

August is going to be humid around the area! Wash with Lemon Joy and eat lots
of garlic.

Buescher is more camping in the woods:

We're going to be here in August.
Anybody got anything between here and Houston?
We're thinking Steven F Austin in Sealy.
Anybody got anything else?
