Well, I would never make light of Sammie's or Gerald's situation or any who were actually in the true path of Rita. And I have to say that Katrina caused incredible damage. But I am getting pretty weary of the shrill pitch of the TV news guys who scream that there will be nothing but death and destruction, if you don't watch TV 24 hours of the day you won't know that it's under your bed and YOU WILL DIE AND YOUR CHILDREN WILL DIE!

I worked on my bus to get ready for the Tulsa show but didn't go because the weather people convinced me that, even if I got to Tulsa, I would be caught in the torrential rain and not be able to get back for days. We got 3/4 of an inch. And I missed a gathering that I was told was a good show less than two hours from my house.

I am bitter.

We got back to Ft Worth last night, Tulsa show was a really good show, everyone should go next year, pretty town, they had 132 cars, really nice vintage stuff, good cheap parts too,not a lot of buses, about 10 I guess, lots of good ones in the parking lot though, you know bus people it could have been the $25 to enter that deterred them. It's fun to see cars I've never seen before, we met some nice people too. The motel was full of Houston people, they were all relieved and wondering when to go back.

Can't wait for Bugtoberfest & transporter show now.

So happy Rita spared everyone, Sammy's home may have got hit the worse but he was at the show with us, Nacogdoches was getting some hard rain I hear, hope all his VW's are ok. We haven't even got any rain here in Ft Worth.

OK I finally figured out Denis's real job is a writer for the Fox network news or he's an undercover right wing agent, same thing.

ONE OF THE BIGGEST, MOST FEROCIOUS STORMS IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICA CAME ASHORE IN A TOWN THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT AND THE DESTRUCTION WAS WIDESPREAD! POTTED PLANTS WERE KNOCKED OVER AND GAS STATION SIGNS THAT SHOW THE PRICES OF CIGARETTES WERE THROWN TO THE GROUND! WHIRLIGIGS GOT OVERWHIRLED! CARS GOT WET THROUGHOUT THE HOUSTON AREA AND RAIN RAN IN THE GUTTERS!

AUTHORITIES SAID THAT INJURIES WERE KEPT MIRACULOUSLY LOW BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE HAD EATEN TOO MUCH OF THEIR EMERGENCY FOOD AND HAD GONE TO BED. THERE WERE REPORTS THAT THE POWER IN SOME HOUSES WAS LOST LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE THEIR MICROWAVE OVENS AND THEIR VCRS BLINK "12" FOR HOURS. MANY PEOPLE ARE STILL UNABLE TO MAKE THEM STOP.

STORES WERE CLOSED AND BOARDED UP MOST OF FRIDAY, BUT NOW MANY SHOPOWNERS FEEL STUPID AS DO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO WAITED FOR HOURS IN TRAFFIC AND RAN OUT OF GAS TO ESCAPE THE FAIRLY HARD RAIN THAT COULD RUIN A HAIRDO IN SECONDS.

"SHOCK" WAS THE WORD USED OFTEN BY POOLBOYS IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS, THERE WILL BE MANY, MANY SWIMMING POOL OWNERS THAT WILL HAVE TO CHEMICALLY SHOCK THEIR POOLS BECAUSE OF THE RAIN THAT GOT IN THE POOL WATER. AUTHORITIES EXPECT THE COST OF A GALLON OF CHLORINE TO SKYROCKET AND SHORTAGES COULD ARISE IN RIVER OAKS SOME PARTS OF HOUSTON.

CITY OFFICIALS IN GALVESTON ARE WARNING THE REFUGEES BUSSED OUT EARLIER NOT TO RETURN TO SOME NEIGHBORHOODS BECAUSE THEY ARE POOR AND UGLY. THE OFFICIALS WERE HOPEFUL THAT THEY COULD BLOCK THE POOR PEOPLE'S RETURN WITH QUICK CONSTRUCTION OF HOTELS AND CASINOS. MOST OF THE BUSSED OUT POOR PEOPLE WERE DROPPED OFF IN JACKSON SQUARE IN NEW ORLEANS. BELEAGUERED GALVESTON MAYOR, LYDA MAE SOMETHING, IS HOPEFUL THAT THEY CAN'T FIND THEIR WAY BACK.

STAY TUNED FOR MORE REPORTS OF NOTHING HAPPENING. FOR US, NO NEWS IS BAD NEWS.
