Thanks, Steve. My problem was having to do it in a hurry without time to read the instruction book. On my non-Nokia phones, you can simply swop contacts between SIM card and phone memory en bloc. But I was surprised to find this didn't seem to be possible on either the N-Gage or the N91, and all David's contacts had saved to the phone, not his SIM card.

Hi Graham,

Your namesake Graham Wilkins was talking about transferring contacts as
well, and so I thought he couldn't transfer them on block, but this is easy.

Hi Graham,

Why not use the data transfer utility built into the phones? You have to
use it on the newest phone you have, then it installs support to the older
phone. This transfers contacts.

Hi Graham, I have just had to move all the contacts list from one Nokia to
another, and it was a real pain. I forgot about transferring messages, but
I guess it may be similar, having to connect the two phones by bluetooth,
and individually send them across. I thought there would be a global
synchronisation method, but I couldn't find one for contacts, and it may be
the same for texts. I suppose it may be possible to do it via the PC with
Nokia PC suite, but I don't like that software and don't use it.

Hi all.

I have some text messages on one phone I would like to keep when I transfer to my new phone. Is there any way I can transfer them? I am also transfering from a synbian 2nd generation to a symbian 3rd generation phone, though at the moment all I can see in this are disadvantages as there is not yet a great range of software for 3rd generation and the ability to copy ring tones, music and the like seems far too battened down with security restrictions.

Cheers
