that's all very well, but I tryed the link to this interview with torsten brand
regarding talks5,from www.blindmind.net, and it does not work.
perhaps nuance removed it.
If I am rong, could someone send me the correct link.

  Hi Neil.

Ah well, I guess Nuance like to keep things close to their preverbial chests,
if someone is going to announce a major new release, it has to be one of the
development team. I'm guessing Torston probably deals with the PR side of
things as well, so for the avoidance of doubt, the dealers are forbidden to
mention anything until Nuance come out with it first.

  All the best, Ibrahim.

Indeed, it's hard to manage these things, when we as dealers aren't able to
say a dam word, then to have Nuance spill the proverbial beans and not tell
us...

    Grrrrr.

    Hi Neil.

Ah man, come on, we've all been discussing this for the last half day or
so, ever since the good old Doctor Phone put up the link to a podcast
containing an interview with the mity torston.

    All the best, Ibrahim.

Where did you hear that the next version of Talks was due out next week
and the alleged version number?

Well, as it so happens the new version of Talks, v5.0, due for release
next week has exactly that feature. You can also set the volume on a per
application basis. Also, along the same lines, they have fixed the issue
whereby the selection list for ringtones in the profiles configuration section
actually plays the ringtone rather than being muted by Talks. There are also
options to set the voice priority for Talks vs. Other audio outputs.

Well, thought as much. The thing is that one can't set the volume level
in (app specific settings), and even if one can, my guess that the volume level
would revert back to its normal level once you move away from the telephone
application to write a note or what have you even if a call is still active.

So, can this be taken as a suggestion for future Talks releases? Usually
I don't have that much time to unmute Talks, put the volume up then move to do
what I have to do whilst on a call. It's checking the caller ID of another
incoming call most of the time what I want to do. It would really make a
different if such a volume control feature is implemented. Wander if Steve or
Neal are reading this and can comment or take this up with the Talks teem if
they think that this is a good idea for future Talks versions.

      Any thoughts?

      Cheers,

      Amro

Not that I know of. I usually just adjust the volume manually as well
if I want to go on the net or enter notes whilst in a call.

Subject: [talks-uk] Talks volume during a call

        Hello all,

I usually have the Talks volume set to level 4 which I find loud enough
no problems. However, when on a call I find that I need to raise the volume at
least to level 8 to hear Talks. So, is there a way to set the Talks volume to a
certain level when a call is active?

        Cheers,

        Amro
