Steve

Have just looked on the web and seen the N80 described as
"OS S60 3rd Edition"
So presume this means Third Generation?
Which is annoying as I have one waiting to go!

Hi Tink,

Well, I've gotta agree, I really liked the 6260 as well. Mind you, there
are a number of phones which you could say better the 6260. Certainly the
6680 is a fantastic phone and quite a bit smaller. It's got a far better
sound system and talks works very well on it. The N70 is the updated
version of this but sometimes is a little flaky in places though i think it
is more down to the n range software. If you want the most up to date phone
you should look at either the N80 or n73. Both of which though are third
generation phones. This means they need the next release of talks which
isn't yet available. Something though is niggling me saying that the n80 is
only a second generation phone which will therefore mean it will work with
the current verwsion.

Now, to replace the 6260 style phone, I think the N90 is the newest flip
phone, again this is second generation but I've never been able to actually
see one so don't quite know what it looks like other than it is a similar
sized flip.

Hope that helps tink.

Chao for now.

Steve

Steve and everyone,

When I didn't upgrade last year, Carphone Warehouse and/or O2
brought my tariff down by £5. The person who called on Friday told me that f
I upgraded my phone, they could put me on a new special offer tariff, but if
I didn't upgrade my phone, I would loose the previous £5 reduction on my
existing tariff.

I'll talk with him when he calls back on Monday and discuss the
possibilities. Trouble is, I've got a 6260, which I can't seem to better
from the list of supported phones by Nuance.

Out of interest, what phones are you guys using? Any recommendations
or ones to avoid?

Regards,
Tink.

Hi Tink, as a matter of interest, who is your mobile provider? I've never
heard of your tariff going up if you don't upgrade. I've just gone with
Orange myself on the racoon 35 package. This gives me 550 cross network
minutes, 200 txts one magic number for another orange mobile and best of
all, unlimited anytime landline calls. I'm going for the new N73 but the
N70 is also available. Unfortunately, I have to wait for the 3rd gen talks
for the N73.

Andrew and Barbara,

Thanks both for your response. I think I'll stick with the one I've
got, pity my tariff goes up if I don't order a new phone. Somewhat
ridiculously, if I order another of the one I've already got, they'll count
that as a new phone and keep the £5 off my tariff.

Regards,
Léonie.

Hi,

Series 40 is not supported at any rate, and the phones supported are
slightly older now because Series 60 (3rd edition) is not supported yet
either.

The N70 is probably the newest one you can get (?)

Andrew.

Good afternoon,

I've just received a call from Carphone warehouse letting me know I
can upgrade my phone, so I'd welcome any advice on currently supported
phones with Talks.

I did look at the supported list on the Nuance site, but I was
disappointed to find that it still lags behind current phone models by quite
some way. Do they keep that list up to date?

The phone I'd really like is the Nokia 8800, which has been out for
quite a while now, but it's a series 40 phone, which I don't see any support
for under Talks.

Are any of the other possibilities for screen reader support on
mobile phones any more likely to support this?

The phone I'm looking for has reasonably clear buttons, I've got
fairly small hands, so am reasonably nimble, a slide mechanism or clam shell
design and preferably stainless steel. If anyone has got any thoughts on any
of this, I'd really appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Tink
