Cheers,

Well, transferred the TTS and talks .sis files on to the new MMC and with the help of my sighted lodger, got it installed in a flash, and then of course deleted the .sis files from the new MMC to give plenty of space for the MP3s

Thanks everyone.

Hi Mark,

With Talks in phone memory you can use as many MC's as you wish.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks again,

I'll try that then, see if It seems to be any snapier from the phone memory, though really the problem (if it is such) that this will help resolve, is allowing to change MMC cards over without having to have the TALKS installed on each MMC that I put into the phone. You can shoot me now if you like, bfore I ask teh question that is probably asked several gazillion times per day; I've just popped along to the FTP for downloading the TALKS software and my mind has gone ablank as to which version of the TALKS I need to download, I'm sure I remember this quandry the first time I downloaded the software but for the life of me can't remember which was the correct version; is it the UK folder, or the En (english?) folder? one appears to have only the one .xip file in it, (that is the UK folder I believe), whilst the English version folder has several files in it including the manual the TTS .Sis file, and a couple of versions of the talks.sis... By the looks of it this is version 2, or 2.1?

Thanks again.

Mark

there has not been a paid upgrade yet.

Some say that putting the software on the phone makes it more snappy so you
could certainly do that.

Cheers, thanks for replying, I'd ment to join this list for an age after
seeing it on the 'other' yahoo' list, but that was before bt talk21 /yahoo
decided to make their s service inaccessable to VI users; the hotmail thing
is a tempory situeation till my domain name is sorted out and my forever
email sorted.... It isn't so much I want TALKS on multiple MMC cards, though
that is one option, I was hoping to prevent the necessity to install it
multiple times by this time putting it on the pone memory; currently I have
6MB plus of phone memory so there should be plenty o rom.... <erm>
I was more worried about what restrictions they put on obtaining and
installing and running later versions of TALKS as compaired to that verstion
which happened to be 'the one' when I first bought and installed the
sotftwre....

cheers

Mark

Hi Mark.

I think that should work fine. There is nothing to stop you having talks on
multiple MMC cards either so long as you don't change the phone it should
work fine.

Subject: [talks-uk] TALKS licence and updating TALKS version

Hello.

I've a Nokia 6630 with TALKS installed on the MultiMedia Card, this was
installed back in about April. I've now started using the phone to store
some MP3S to use it as an MP3 player whilst on the train etc (for which it
is rather good). So, I've got a new 512 MB reduced size duel voltage MMC
card, which I think I need to format. As the TALKS version I have installed
is already on the MMC card, I then plan on downloading the newest or at
least a newer version of TALKS to the PC and putting this on to the new MMC
with my cardreader, I've sighted help to then hopefully get it from the MMC
and installed on to the phone memory. What I can't seem to find out is about
the version of TALKS I purchased back in April, does this give unlimited
upgrades, and so will I be able to install the latest version of the TALKS
and speech software to the phone and then activate this to the full version
using the security code I got when I origionally purchased TaLKS? the Phone
hasn't changed so that shouldn't be a problem...

Thanks in advance for any help; Hopefully now I've joined the list I may be
able to offer some answers to questions to should I know any of the answers!
Oh, and if theres going to be any obvious problems with my method of putting
TALKS on to the phone memory as described above, that I've not picked on
feel free to enlighten me to my error.

Thanks in advance

Mark Faben
