Hi Mandy.

In order to make a call or send a text to a mobile network outside the UK, you need to dial a plus sign, the country code IE 1 for the US and then the mobile number without any leading 0's. She might not be able to receive texts from you if the network operator she is using or her phone is incompatible with the text messaging system we use. Remember that American mobile phones operate on an entirely different system to us Europeans and some features like texting might not work. Try calling her and see what happens.

Hope this helps, Ibrahim

Subject: [talks-uk] Phoning U.S.A.

Hi there, I have a friend in The States and she says she does not receive my
text messages, can anyone confirm it is +1 and then the number to send a
text there? I haven't tried phoning, just sending text messages and I have
checked the number with her.

Thanks
Mandy
