Hi Mandy.

In order to make a call or send a text to a mobile network outside the UK,
you need to dial a plus sign, the country code IE 1 for the US and then the
mobile number without any leading 0's.  She might not be able to receive
texts from you if the network operator she is using or her phone is
incompatible with the text messaging system we use.  Remember that American
mobile phones operate on an entirely different system to us Europeans and
some features like texting might not work.  Try calling her and see what
happens.
