Adrien , as you are in France at the moment, could you kindly assist
me to find the Eloquence of French , I exhausted of looking for it,
and indeed the list members have been bored from asking for it.

Hi Neil

Ok I will add a bit to this subject. I am on both lists now
and although I sort my messages in to groups in outlook, it
is sometimes interesting reading topics that don't apply to
me but are none the less still interesting or important.
Now because I am in France, I am a bit out on a limb here
because I don't use the same networks as someone in the uk
so I have problems finding people to help me who use the
same networks so if there are any other members in France on
either list I'd be interested to hear from you. Also we
don't have the same number of networks over here as you have
in the uk, I think there are only 3 major ones although
there are lots, well several smaller networks which use the
major networks such as the network I am on. As for having
the two lists, it is good to see the different impute from
different parts of the world. And of course we can all help
one another in one way or another.

Adrien

Eleanor,

you ask a valid question, I'll go through each point:

firstly, Barbra is welcome back on this list or indeed the
international list any day, I had nothing to do with her
leaving, but would like to see her back again.

The fact that Steve from Computer Room Services and other
dealers post sometimes frequently and other times less so,
is no doubt, as you say a simple fact of commitments to
other projects and alike. I know from personal experience
that these mailing lists can take up a great deal of time
and its not easy keeping on top of mail.

I would say, in my official capacity that dealers, experts,
power users right through to the novice are all welcome
here, and like the international list the purpose here is to
collectively benefit one and other.

so do we need both lists, yes, I honestly think so, I do
like you become irritated at people doing exactly what you
just said, I saw Simon's message go to at least three lists
I'm on, and this seems like a waste of time in one sense,
but in another, I recognise that he, and others who do this,
are just trying to get a wide range of opinion and view.

The Talks list in terms of an internationally ran list gets
an awful lot of traffic, and quite often much of the topics
discussed can range well out of the scope that say someone
from Europe and especially the Uk may need or wish to know
about, and as such, having a UK, or for that matter, other
regionally specific, lists does actually make sense.

For those of us with less time on our hands the UK list
offers a smaller traffic through put and more often the
topics are more targeted and you're more likely of an
assured response from someone quoting in Pounds and who
know's our networks etc.

all in all, yes, despite I see quite a bit of cross traffic,
I do believe that multiple lists are still required.

HTH.

Now that Neil is the Moderator on both lists, I presume in

both lists, do we now need two lists, especially where we
have duplicate
e-mails on same topic. This is nothing against Simon who
has very recently
posted but just something which has come to mind since the
announcement of
the new ownership of the UK list. It is very disappointing
that we do not
see other Talks Dealers on these lists now. I know that an
excellent lady
who gave fantastic support on the UK list, Barbra left the
list due to
conflict of one form or another. Steve Nutt used to give a
lot of input but
again I make the assumption that due to work commitments
maybe Steve is
unable to offer as much support and share as much knowledge
as he did.
There are some very well informed contributors on the
international Talks
list which I feel the UK list members would benefit from
sharing. Why do we
now need our own UK list? Are our issues different from
those of other list
members on the international Talks list? I would have
thought not.

Eleanor
