I got home to Seaside around 22:45 and have been hearing a few Spotted
Sandpipers calling 'peet-weet-weet-weet-weet' as they migrate overhead in
the night sky. I looked at Ebird for Clatsop County today and Tina Toth of
Astoria had made an early evening visit to The Cove where she tallied six
spotties! Spotted Sandpipers will often stop in migration along the Oregon
coast at rocky-intertidal habitats that I more typically associate with
Turnstones, Surfbirds, Rock Sandpipers and Tattlers--collectively known as
"rockpipers." I guess I will start thinking of Spotted Sandpiper as a
rockpiper too from now on.

I have also been hearing nocturnal-migrant Swainson's Thrushes and unknown
passerines call the last few nights.
