Phil: If you are getting a reading of -8dB when clipping during recording, either something is very wrong, or you have the world's worst sound card. I would try cranking up the line-in volume in the Windows volume control; you are probably just overloading the input stage before recording the signal. >>> phil@xxxxxxxxxxxx 06/23/06 01:40PM >>> Hi Rob, Thanks, Yes, I had the peak meter turned off. Now that I turned it on in the view menu I get a reading but other that they are changing in the play and recording settings and giving me two numbers I can not tell if they are set correctly. For example in record mode I get a setting of -10 when sounding correct and a -8 when distorted. I think I need some help!
