You can change input and output levels in Sonar when recording and playing
audio. That's the only one I know of.

I am trying to think of any audio editor from within you can change
levels before recording . why not just have 2 windows open, one for SR
and the other for your window from which you change your audio input
sounds. Tis easy when you know which is your default audio device (input)
e.g. microphone, line input, etc. Or even a bluetooth device which your
computer recognizes, you can get input from, and then it works. You can make
a test recording and increase the gain until you hear that "clipping sound,
and then I'd go at least 10 DB below that so you can have head room to play
with in case the input source gets frisky. :) My input source can be any of
at least 4 microphones, or other "virtual audio cable sources" from which I
can or had directed sounds from other sources, etc.
The audio control center of windows 7 through 10 sure makes it fun. And, if
you've a mixer, then the fun really begins.
