Steve, it sounds like for some reason, your default file options were
reset.  Try pressing Control M and you will find a dialog box that
allows you to select the sample rate and bit rate.  This should now be
in force each time you open the program.

I find with the newest beta that when opening a file, an option screen 
automatically appears for selecting sample rate etc.

Is there a way to make Studio Recorder behave like previous releases 
and not present this screen?

It's a bit annoying, especially if you are use to opening a file and 
immediately want to do something in that file.
